Author Anita Waggoner's Bio
Anita Waggoner is a passionate, creative, dedicated, tenacious individual. She writes novels, short stories and screenplays. Her novel Farewell to Freedom received five star reviews and won an award for Best Fiction in the 2011 National Indie Excellence Book Awards Contest. Anita was named a winner in the 2011 Author's Show contest "50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading”. Her screenplay Farewell to Freedom was a preliminary finalist in the 2014 Creative World Awards Contest.
The Screenplay –Farewell to Freedom is a new day western genre written from a female’s point of view. The prize winning story is based on Anita Waggoner’s true life experiences. The main characters are Cheyenne Stevens and Rowdy Harrison.
The thirteen years she spent living on her Oklahoma ranch inspired Anita to write the novel and subsequent screenplay. The story shows how, by sheer persistence, she has the ability to go on and overcomes extreme obstacles.
In Farewell to Freedom Cheyenne flees to Las Vegas to escape the heartache of a failing marriage. While there, during the National Finals Rodeo, she meets the cowboy. A long-term love affair ensues. Cheyenne gives up a life of luxury to live with Rowdy in a run-down bunk house on the Oklahoma ranch. Unhappy with life in the bleak bunk house, she builds a luxurious western guest ranch in the middle of the desolate prairie. She entertains visitors from around the world. Cheyenne buys into Rowdy’s fledgling bucking bull business and becomes a female stock contractor for the PBR.
Cheyenne is a strong-willed, modern day cowgirl who proves she can survive in the tough man's world. Her patience is tried over and over again by Rowdy, and his scoundrel friends, who constantly seek to take advantage.
